New Brahmos missile manufacturing facility in Lucknow is inaugurated by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on 11th May 2025
On Sunday, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh virtually opened the BrahMos Aerospace Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow. This advanced facility is part of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, comprising six major hubs: Lucknow, Kanpur, Aligarh, Agra, Jhansi, and Chitrakoot.
The Lucknow facility will be responsible for assembling and testing the current supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles, as well as manufacturing the lighter, next-generation (NG) variants.
The facility is set up to produce between 80 and 100 BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles annually, with plans to increase capacity to manufacture 100 to 150 next-generation variants per year in the future. It has been established by BrahMos Aerospace, a collaborative initiative between India’s Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Russia’s NPO Mashinostroyeniya (Scientific Production Association of Machine-Building).
The BrahMos is a versatile, highly accurate missile capable of being launched from various platforms, including land-based launchers, ships, and aircraft, Brahmos can travel at the speed of Mach 2.9, Due to its speed and agility , it's impossible for the Surface to air missile system to intercept it.
India has Used the Brahmos missile to hit Pakistan Target in During Operation Sindoor, A missile is launched from SU-30MKI hits Pakistan Airforce base with PIN POINT accuracy, destroying its AWACS aircraft parked under a Bunker, This incident also killed 6 Pakistan Airforce officer in the AWACS.
