The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to restart on May 17th, and the final match of the tournament will be held on June 3rd
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced on Monday that the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 will restart on May 17.
The decision follows a week-long suspension due to the India-Pakistan conflict, with a ceasefire on May 10 prompting the resumption.
The tournament will feature 17 matches across six venues—Delhi, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad—beginning on May 17, with the final set for June 3. The updated schedule includes two double-headers on consecutive Sundays, and matches originally planned in sensitive areas have been moved to safer locations.
Currently, the top four positions on the IPL 2025 points table are occupied by Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings, and Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders, and Lucknow Super Giants are still in contention for playoff spots, while Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, and Chennai Super Kings have been eliminated.
This marks the second instance of a mid-season IPL suspension, the first being the 2021 season, which was halted due to a COVID-19 outbreak and later concluded in the UAE.
Once the tournament resumes, Royal Challengers Bengaluru will face Kolkata Knight Riders at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Details regarding the playoff venues will be disclosed later.
The IPL 2025 was halted following the abandoned May 8 match between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala. The game will be replayed on May 24 in Jaipur.
